EDUCATION AT THE ZOO

. The National Zoo & Aquarium offers a unique learning   experience for all ages.
. Experience the thrill of coming face to face with tigers, bears,   giraffes and more!
. Make friends with a snake!
. Go behind the scenes to our cougar den classroom; sometimes   the   cougars peek in to see what’s going on.
. Choose from a wide range of curriculum based topics.
Add another dimension to your excursion to the zoo with -
ZOOFARI TRAIL WORKSHEETS

Your students go on their own Zoofari to find nine Wise Owls who hide fun information about our animals. They then fill in the blanks on their worksheet and decipher who is the most dangerous animal on the world. This program is designed for year’s two to six.

Download your Zoofari trail worksheet here.

HAND FEEDS AND INDEMNITY FORMS

In order for students to participate in hand feeds, each student must have an indemnity form completed prior to their visit to the zoo.
These forms must be signed by a parent or guardian.

With groups over 15, every child may not be able to feed a large animal such as a tiger or giraffe. For example, 6 out of a group of
30 students may have the opportunity to participate in a hand feed. Schools can pre-select these 6 students - or have all children complete the forms, and the teachers choose students on arrival. What ever method of selection is used, indemnity forms must be completed by a parent prior to the visit.

Don’t worry, no-one misses out, every student will have the opportunity to handle a reptile and feed an animal.
