Eastern Whipbird

Hi! I’m an Eastern Whipbird

The Eastern Whipbird lives in wet rainforest or eucalypt forrest along the east coast of Australia, from northern Queensland to Victoria. They do not migrate, remaining in the same area all year round. Each breeding pair occupies its own territory, and mates remain together for many years. Females incubate approximately 2-3 eggs for 18 days, while both parents rear the hatchlings.

The National Zoo & Aquarium is home to 1 Eastern Whipbird, Mr Whippy.
