Red Panda
Hi! I’m a Red Panda
The Red Panda is found in the mountain forests of the Himalayas. They are efficient climbers, and have a thumb-like appendage that they use to grab bamboo. They're a nocturnal species, and are found sleeping or sheltering throughout most of the day. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss, fragmentation, and degradation, Red Pandas are an endangered species. They are also frequently poached for medicine and for their beautiful red coats.
The National Zoo & Aquarium is home to 1 Red Panda, Nasapati.
