Casual Education Guides
Thank you for your interest in joining the National Zoo & Aquarium as an Education Guide.
Our Education Guides act as ambassadors for the Zoo and its conservation work. They deliver engaging, informative and interactive experiences designed to inspire visitors of all ages to care about animals and the natural world.
We are currently recruiting casual Education Guides to work across our September/October school holiday programs and activities.
About the Role
Education Guides are energetic, reliable and adaptable people with a passion for conservation education and excellent customer service.
Successful applicants may work across a variety of programs and activities. To gain a full understanding of the role, all interested parties must read the role description below and attend an information evening.

How to Apply
Step 1: Submit an Expression of Interest
Complete the expression of interest form on this page (below on mobile and right on desktop).
Step 2: Attend the Information Evening
Applicants must attend the information evening at:
5:30 - 7pm on Wednesday, 12th August
This session will provide a realistic overview of the role and the requirements of working within a zoo environment. We will cover:
Typical duties and responsibilities
School holiday programs and activities
Rostering and availability expectations
Animal handling and presentation requirements
The physical and practical demands of the position
The next stage of the recruitment process
Step 3: Attend a Group Interview
Selected applicants will be invited to attend one of the following group interview sessions:
Sunday, 16th August at 3:00 pm
Wednesday, 19th August at 3:30 pm
Applicants should allow approximately two hours for the group interview.
Attendance at the information evening and one group interview session is required to be considered for a position.
