Casual Education Guides

Thank you for your interest in joining the National Zoo & Aquarium as an Education Guide.

Our Education Guides act as ambassadors for the Zoo and its conservation work. They deliver engaging, informative and interactive experiences designed to inspire visitors of all ages to care about animals and the natural world.

We are not currently actively recruiting for our Education Team, however we welcome Expressions of Interest at any time.

Our Education Team runs tours, programs and encounters for all ages, with the majority of staff working on a casual, seasonal basis. Staffing requirements peak around summer, school holidays and weekends.

About the Role

Education Guides are energetic, reliable and adaptable people with a passion for conservation education and excellent customer service.

Successful applicants may work across a variety of programs and activities. To gain a full understanding of the role, all interested parties must read the role description below and attend an information evening.

How to Apply

Step 1: Submit an Expression of Interest

Complete the expression of interest form on this page (below on mobile and right on desktop).

Step 2: Attend the Information Evening

After submitting an expression of interest, you will be notified for any future information evenings. We generally run an evening every 9-18 months. Our last information evening was in August of 2026.

Step 3: Attend an Interview

Details for interviews will be released at the next round of hiring.
