Unique Limited Edition Collectable Medallions

  • Each designated Animal Day a new, quality medallion commerating the day will be released for members only*. The medallions will display a photo, the species, our animal’s name, the year and  the National Zoo and Aquarium logo on the back

    A Collectables Book to store the Medallions in will be available shortly for $6

Collectable Animal Badges  and Zoo-per Fun Fact Cards

  • Two more collectables will be available for just $2 for both! The medallions, badges and cards can all be purchased with a single visit.

    Animal Badge

    • The Collectable badge will feature a photo of one of our animals plus the zoo name.

    • A lanyard for your Animal Badges  to be attached to, with the National Zoo Logo is available for purchase for just $6

    Zoo-per Fun Fact card with the following:

    • A photo of one of our animals, or if we don’t have that species, a representative photo

    • The species

    • Some interesting facts about the species

    • National Zoo and Aquarium logo

    A Zoo-per Fun Fact card holder with National Zoo Logo will be available for purchase for $6 for a 27 card Album.

    An ideal opportunity to build up a knowledge (and a reference library) of a variety of different animals.

Terms & Conditions

    • There will generally be the current medallion, badge and card, plus the previous edition available for purchase at any time, therefore a minimum of 13 visits annually will be required to collect all 26 editions. They will be available for 4 weeks from the nominated animal day.

    • Members can purchase either the Medallion ($10) or the Badge and Card ($2), or all of them ($12).

    • Generally 2 different Animal Day sets will be available at any one time. A maximum of two of each medallion, badge and card can be purchased by a member. If a family membership has more than 2 children, then a maximum of one of each set for each child member can be purchased.

    • They will only be available to members visiting the zoo*.

    • *In the event that available supplies are unsold, they will be made available to the general public through the zoo gift shop.

    • In the event that we run out of initial supplies for members, they will be able to order them and we will obtain the required numbers.

Celebration of World Animal Days at the zoo

When we celebrate the 26 World Animal Days each year:

  • Collectables will be available for 4 weeks

  • Medallion

  • Badge

  • Zoo-per Fun Fact Card

  • Keeper talks will be held, usually on the weekend closest to the designated animal day. These may be extended for longer periods – check our website and your newsletters.
